Report: Jets claim former Cowboys WR Lucky Whitehead off waivers

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead did not remain unemployed long. He looks to be the newest member of the New York Jets.

It was reported following the Cowboys’ decision to waive Whitehead that five teams had contacted him. Whitehead was abruptly released by the Cowboys on Monday following an arrest warrant the receiver was served.

It turned out to be a case of mistaken identity and Whitehead was cleared of alleged shoplifting charges.

Whitehead spent two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys on special teams. He tallied 305 punt return and 846 kick return yards.

Considering how the Jets depleted their receiving corps during the offseason, Whitehead might up with a role on offense in 2017.
