Report: Jaime Garcia trade could fall through

Jaime Garcia Atlanta Braves

It was reported on Thursday that the Minnesota Twins had agreed to a trade to acquire Atlanta Braves starter Jaime Garcia. It’s a move the Twins wanted to make in order to remain in contention for a playoff spot.

Unfortunately for the Twins, said trade might now fall through.

“The trade appeared to be agreed to on Thursday night, but it’s still possible the trade could fall through,” Tommy Stokke of FanRag Sports reported Friday.

The trade would send a trio of prospects to Atlanta, including starting pitcher.

Garcia, 31, would be a solid get for Minnesota. He’s struggled to a 3-7 record with a 4.33 ERA on the season, but has a track record of success at the Major League level. That includes a 10-6 mark and a 2.43 ERA for the St. Louis Cardinals back in 2015.

The trade could still go through, and the Braves are making preparations in case it is finalized today. Minor league starter Aaron Blair is in Los Angeles to take Garcia’s spot in the rotation should it come to fruition.
