Report: ‘Growing sense’ around NBA that Kyle Lowry will re-sign with Raptors

Kyle Lowry

Despite Jimmy Butler actively recruiting him to Minnesota and interest from the San Antonio Spurs, it looks like Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry is headed back to Canada.

According to Jeff Zillgitt of USA Today Sports, there’s a growing sense around the NBA that Lowry will re-sign with the Raptors.

If that’s the case, at least one of the top players on the market will remain back east. This comes after both Paul George and Jimmy Butler were shipped off to the Western Conference in trades earlier in the week.

Lowry, 31, has earned three consecutive trips to the All-Star game and is coming off the best performance of his career. The veteran point guard averaged 22.4 points and 7.0 assists while shooting at a tremendous 41 percent clip from distance for the Raptors last season.

Minnesota had been a potential landing spot for Lowry prior to the team signing Jeff Teague late Friday night. As for the Spurs, they’re seemingly out of the market after re-signing Patty Mills during the opening hours of free agency.
