Report: Broncos sign former Super Bowl champ Stevan Ridley

Stevan Ridley

The Denver Broncos have some talent at running back. But adequate depth is a big question mark, especially after Devontae Booker went down with an injury Wednesday. As a result of that development, the team is reportedly signing running back Stevan Ridley, who won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots after the 2014 season.

Denver currently has a healthy Jamaal Charles, who’ll be brought along slowly after being cleared for all activities ahead of camp. The Broncos also have veteran C.J. Anderson, who’s also coming off a knee injury that kept him out of nine games last year.

Other backs on the roster include Bernard Pierce and sixth-round rookie De’Angelo Henderson.

With an entire training camp to play out and four preseason games to boot, it’s no wonder Ridley’s being brought on board. In six seasons, he’s rushed for 2,914 yards (4.2 yards per carry) and 22 touchdowns. Ridley has also caught 27 passes for 144 yards.
