Myles Garrett: Browns limiting training camp reps following foot sprain

Myles Garrett Cleveland Browns practice

Myles Garrett is being held back somewhat at the start of Cleveland Browns training camp following a foot sprain that kept him out of offseason workouts.

The defensive end told reporters Monday that he’s being held to a limited snap count early on, likely as a precaution.

Because Garrett was the top overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, this is hardly surprising news. The team would look pretty bad if it rushed him back to full speed, only to lose him for an extended period of time. Foot injuries are notoriously problematic if not handled with kid gloves, so this is absolutely the right approach.

Still, it’s got to be a little bit disconcerting for Browns fans. After all, they’ve been constantly disappointed in their team for decades. Also, Garrett recently said he was 100-percent healthy and ready to rumble.

Hopefully the emergence of rookie quarterback DeShone Kizer will lead to a change that they can believe in.
