LaVar Ball: ‘If the price is right,’ Lonzo Ball would sign shoe deal with Nike, Adidas

Lonzo Ball Lakers Summer League

Lonzo Ball has donned Nike and Adidas brand shoes in recent summer league games with the Los Angeles Lakers, along with his own expensive ZO2 shoe. And according to dear old dad, LaVar Ball, doing so was a “statement” to those companies.

“It’s making a statement to the brands of what they could have had with an open mind,” the patriarch said, via text to Darren Rovell of ESPN. “The players are the brand ambassadors. The brand is nothing without the players.”

Ball also said Lonzo Ball is open for business as far as endorsements go, with a caveat.

“If the price is right. Quite frankly we are officially in the shoe game, and are a billion dollar brand either way.”

It’s kind of a strange place the Balls are in right now.

They are actively promoting the Big Baller Brand. And in the past, it has seemed like they weren’t interested in signing with a major label like Nike or Adidas. But now, it’s clear they’re very much open to signing an endorsement deal, if they get an offer they feel is worthy of the Ball name.

So far, Lonzo has done nothing but impress since a poor first game. He’s had two triple-doubles in the NBA’s Summer League, which is a first.

Clearly, the young man is very talented, and Lakers president Jeanie Buss recently said the team’s future is bright with him and the other young talent they’ve assembled.
