The NFL has turned over the contents of its investigation into Ezekiel Elliott’s off-field issues, and Jerry Jones says there is no evidence of domestic violence.
Speaking with media on Sunday before training camp begins for the Dallas Cowboys in Oxnard, Calif., Jones said the following about what he’s seen.
“I have reviewed everything and there is absolutely nothing – not one thing – that had anything to do with domestic violence,” Jones said, per Todd Archer of ESPN.
This follows in line what has previously been reported about this investigation, that the Cowboys have not been made aware of any pending suspension.
Though, there have also been plenty of reports that indicate the NFL is preparing to suspend Elliott for the start of the 2017 season, and one report indicates other NFL owners have been pushing for this to happen.
Elliott was accused of abusing his ex-girlfriend last year, and the NFL investigated these claims for over a year. During the course of that investigation, Elliott didn’t help himself by getting involved in a number of off-field incidents that reflected poorly on him and the Cowboys.
We’ve seen the NFL suspend a certain prominent player recently, despite what most would agree was a startling lack of real evidence any wrongdoing occurred. It’s going to be fascinating to see what happens next.
