Jazz re-sign F Joe Ingles to four-year, $52 million contract

The Utah Jazz have re-signed forward Joe Ingles

The Utah Jazz made some more news on Saturday, re-signing restricted free agent Joe Ingles to a lucrative four-year, $52 million contract.

Tony Jones over at The Salt Lake Tribune was the first to report the terms of the deal.

Ingles, 29, had drawn interest from the Brooklyn Nets, among other teams, before deciding to remain in Utah.

The Aussie finished last season as the third-best three-point shooter in the NBA, hitting at a 44 percent clip from distance. He also averaged 7.1 points and 3.2 rebounds in part-time starting duties for the Jazz.

Should Gordon Hayward move on in free agency, Ingles will likely take over as Utah’s full-time starter at small forward. In that scenario, he would join newly acquired Ricky Rubio, Rodney Hood and Rudy Gobert in the Jazz’ starting five.

There’s no telling one way or another what this means for Hayward’s status in Salt Lake City. But we can expect this deal to play a role in that situation.
