J.J. Watt recently made headlines when he poked fun at LaVar Ball and the Big Baller Brand while promoting his own shoes with Reebok.

Though he didn’t mention LaVar Ball or the Big Baller Brand, this was a brilliant tweet that everyone saw for what it was.
And apparently it worked.
When asked about it Wednesday during Houston Texans training camp, Watt said he did that to sell shoes, and “it worked.”

Reebok has also used some other interesting methods to boost Watt’s product line, which you can read about here.
It’s unclear how many shoes Watt sold after the LaVar Ball subtweet, but we’re betting it made a significant impact. Whether it’s positive or negative press, the Ball family generates more of it that most out there these days.
