Browns safety Jabrill Peppers finally inks rookie contract

Jabrill Peppers

Former Michigan star Jabrill Peppers signed his rookie contract just in time to take part in training camp with the Cleveland Browns. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media broke the news Sunday night, and the team made it official not long afterwards.

The Browns open training camp on July 27. Now that Peppers is locked in, they have all 10 of their 2017 NFL Draft picks, including No. 1 overall pick Myles Garrett.

The reason Peppers’ deal took so long to come together was that the two sides differed on the amount of money that would be included in his contract, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

A consensus All-American and Heisman finalist last year, Peppers figures to play a big role in Cleveland’s plans right out of the gate. In addition to his duties as a safety in Gregg Williams’ system, Peppers is expected to make an impact in the return game, and Hue Jackson has already said he’ll be designing plays for him on offense.
