WATCH: LeBron James congratulates, embraces Kevin Durant after Game 5

LeBron James and Kevin Durant after Game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals

LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers fell short of the ultimate goal this season, losing to Kevin Durant and the Golden State Warriors in five games.

After suffering a brutal road loss Monday night, it would have been easy for James to simply walk off the court following a failed attempt at a title — his fifth NBA Finals as a member of the losing team.

Instead, James was all class, taking the time to embrace and congratulate his rival.

That Durant was the MVP of the 2017 NBA Finals is an indisputable fact. That LeBron James is the best player in the world is equally indisputable. Unfortunately for him, this time around he wasn’t on the best team.

Durant’s Warriors waltzed through the postseason with a 16-1 record, and it took a record-breaking performance by the Cavs in Game 4 to give them their only loss. This team will go down in history as one of the most dominant the league has ever seen. And the scary part is the Warriors are built to last.
