Vince Young suffers hamstring injury during Saskatchewan practice

Vince Young

Vince Young was sidelined with a hamstring injury Tuesday during practice with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, per Ian Hamilton of Riderville.com.

“Young pulled down the football and scrambled for a first down during a double-barrel session, but then pulled up lame, walked off the field and sat down on the ground. He left shortly afterward, walking to the locker room with a member of the training staff.”

Chris Jones, the Roughriders’ head coach and general manager, was not able to yet determine how long this injury will keep Young out of action. He said the team would “see exactly how bad it is and evaluate it and then we’ll make adjustments from there.”

Being that Young has so much catching up to do and the team is trying to evaluate who will start, it’s certainly not a positive development.

“Anytime you’re trying to evaluate quarterbacks and you get one hurt, it’s never a positive,” Jones said.

It’s been three years since Young played competitive football, so it isn’t all that surprising that the 34-year-old quarterback is dealing with an injury. He only recently inked his contract to join the Canadian Football League franchise.

The last time Young registered stats in a pro game came all the way back in 2011 when he was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. In the three years afterwards he signed one-year deals with the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers, though he was quickly released by all three teams.
