Report: Wizards offer John Wall four-year, $170 million extension

John Wall

If the Washington Wizards get their way, point guard John Wall will not be going anywhere any time soon. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Washington offered Wall a “supermax” extension for four years at nearly $170 million.

While the deal would pay Wall north of $42 million per year, a quick decision is not expected.

“Wall will sit down and discuss the offer with his agent and family over the next week as he considers whether to accept. Wall has two years and $37 million left on his contract, this deal would lock him in with the Wizards until 2022-23,” Windhorst wrote. “With a decision that could affect the rest of his prime years, Wall is taking a measured approach and will spend time vetting the decision.”

Wall is coming off of a monster season for the Wizards. Over the 2016-17 season, he set a career high in points (23.1), assists (10.7), and steals (2.0) per game.

He made the All-Star for the fourth straight year and was voted All-NBA third team, which is why Washington was able to offer him a “supermax” deal.
