Report: Jeremy Maclin to visit Bills Tuesday

Jeremy Maclin

Recently released former Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Jeremy Maclin has four or five serious suitors. The team that has been most linked to him initially is the Buffalo Bills, who have had star players campaign for them to sign the veteran receiver.

It now looks like the brass in Western New York is paying attention. According to Buffalo based reporter Paul Peck (h/t NFL.com), Maclin will visit with the Bills on Tuesday. Plans are also being made for Maclin to meet with the Baltimore Ravens later in the week.

Despite a down 2016 campaign that saw him put up 44 receptions for 536 yards, the 29-year-old Maclin will receive a ton of interest in his services. Here’s a guy that tallied 80-plus receptions with eight-plus touchdowns in two consecutive seasons prior to last year.

He’s the top skill-position player on the market, and receiver-needy teams could surely use a boast heading into minicamps. Both Buffalo and Baltimore are included in that category.

Buffalo decided against picking up the 2018 option on Sammy Watkins’ rookie contract and need another short-term option opposite him after Robert Woods departed in free agency. Meanwhile, the Ravens saw future Hall of Famer Steve Smith turn in his cleats for media credentials earlier this offseason.
