New York Giants star Odell Beckham Jr. did not attend his teams OTAs. The prevailing logic was that it was due to his desire for a new contract. But according to Beckham, that was not the case.
#Giants WR Odell Beckham told reporters him staying away from OTAs was not contract related. Leaves that to “the man above.”

The next logical question is simple. If Beckham didn’t skip OTAs for contract issues, why did he?
Beckham’s contract and status with the Giants has been hotly discussed in recent weeks. Coach Ben McAdoo took a thinly veiled shot at Beckham for not attending. Franchise legend Phil Simms, meanwhile, sided with Beckham, saying that the team needed to make him happy.
A player of Beckham’s caliber missing OTAs is notable. But in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t mean much. If however Beckham is absent minicamp and eventually training camp, it will be a notable story, indeed. Until then, it’s just something to keep in mind.
