Report: Matt Barnes pleads guilty to disorderly conduct, sentenced to 10 days community service

Matt Barnes

Golden State Warriors forward Matt Barnes was in court Tuesday in connection to an altercation at a New York nightclub last December.

Barnes reportedly pled guilty to disorderly conduct and was sentenced to 10 days of community service, per TMZ Sports.

Originally, Barnes was facing third-degree assault charges for allegedly choking a woman and elbowing her in the face, which would have resulted in a much more significant form of punishment. Pleading guilty to disorderly conduct keeps him from serving jail time.

Barnes and former Sacramento Kings teammate DeMarcus Cousins are both being sued by the woman, Jasmine Besiso. Cousins has been cleared of criminal wrongdoing, though he was also accused of punching Besiso.

Barnes must report back to court in August for an update on his community service work.
