Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton exits game after being hit by pitch

Giancarlo Stanton

The Miami Marlins got a pretty major scare. Star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton exited Saturday’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates after being hit on the hand by Pirates starter Trevor Williams.

The pitch registered at over 95 miles-per-hour and Stanton was seen in tremendous pain before exiting. This is the last thing a 27-33 Marlins team needs. Though, there are no further update on the injury. Obviously, that will come after the game itself concludes.

Stanton, 27, missed 43 games last season due to a groin injury. Back in 2015, he missed more than half the season with a broken hand.

The All-Star is hitting .288 with 16 homers and 42 RBI on the season. We’ll have updates as soon as more information becomes available.
