Lonzo Ball won’t comment on D’Angelo Russell trade

Big Baller Brand shoes, Lonzo Ball

When the Los Angeles Lakers sent D’Angelo Russell packing to Brooklyn on Monday, it became a foregone conclusion that Magic Johnson and Co. would take UCLA’s Lonzo Ball with the second pick on Thursday night.

While this is still likely going to be the case, Ball himself recently indicated that he’s been given no assurances that the Lakers will indeed pick the home-town kid (more on that here).

Now, in answering questions about the aforementioned Russell trade, Ball himself doesn’t have a comment. He’s not interested in talking about it leading up to the draft.

Maybe Lonzo’s father could take a page out of his son’s book. After all, sometimes, no comment is the best way to go.

Either way, we fully expect the Lakers to select Ball No. 2 overall on Thursday. That will clear the way for him to be the new face of the fledgling franchise. Just don’t look for Ball to address the possibility until he’s actually picked.
