John Harbaugh expresses full confidence in Ravens’ safety during London trip

On September 24, the Baltimore Ravens will be in London for a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. England has gone through a horrific time recently after being rocked by two major terrorist attacks, including one not far from where the game will be played. Still, coach John Harbaugh is not concerned with the safety of himself or his team.

In fact, Harbaugh’s primary takeaway from the attacks is to support those who defend the safety of civilians.

“It underscores the gratitude and the respect that we all absolutely have to have for those who protect us — the police and the military and all the people at work in those areas, whether it’s intelligence or whatever it is that we don’t know anything about,” Harbaugh said, per Callie Caplan of The Baltimore Sun. “We just say, ‘You know what? They’re going to do a great job for us, and they’re going to be there for us and they’re going to have our back.’”

Harbaugh is not the first NFL coach who refuses to be scared away. Bruce Arians, whose Arizona Cardinals will take on the Los Angeles Rams in October, expressed similar sentiment.

Some fear would be understandable. Still, the overall attitude of Arians or Harbaugh is hard to argue against.

While the games will take place several months after the attacks, they’ll also serve as a strong opportunity for the teams to honor the victims who recently were taken from the world.
