Jared Goff boasts of grasping ‘all of’ Rams offense

Rams quarterback Jared Goff leads the team on the field

Jared Goff is fully confident in his understanding of Sean McVay’s offense as the Los Angeles Rams prepare for training camp later this summer.

McVay told Goff he’s installed about 95 percent of his offense already during OTAs and minicamp. In response to that bit of information, Goff boasted, “If that’s what we have in, I’d say I’ve understood all of it and grasped all of it so far,” per Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.

Goff also says he’s learned McVay’s offense “much quicker” than he picked up Rob Boras’ offense during his rookie campaign.

Rams fans better hope that’s the case, because Goff was pretty awful last season. He completed just 54.6 percent of his passes, tossed five touchdowns, seven interceptions and fumbled five times.

One thing working in Goff’s favor, aside from what he believes is a better grasp of a new offense, is an upgraded offensive line. The Rams signed left tackle Andrew Whitworth in free agency to protect Goff’s blind side and veteran center John Sullivan to anchor what was an awful unit last year.

Additionally, the Rams signed Robert Woods away from Buffalo and drafted Cooper Kupp to bolster their receiving corps.

If Goff truly does have a better grasp of the offense he’ll be leading in 2017 (assuming he starts), then the Rams should have a much better chance to win games this season than they did last year.
