Cardinals WR John Brown suffers hamstring injury

John Brown

Following an injury-plagued 2016 season that saw him deal with health issues that extended far beyond the football field, Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown was given a clean bill of health recently.

Unfortunately, that has now given in to more injury concerns for the young talent.

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians noted on Wednesday that Brown suffered a hamstring injury during OTAs.

To be clear here, this seems to be a minor issue. With that’s said, any injury to Brown’s hamstring should be cause for alarm. In addition to dealing with a cyst on his spine (since removed) and a sickle-cell trait issue last season, Brown missed time due to a hamstring injury.

A third-round pick back in 2014, Brown jumped on to the scene as a rookie, recording 48 receptions for nearly 700 yards. He then followed that up with a 1,000-yard campaign as a sophomore the following season. Unfortunately, this past year saw Brown hampered with numerous issues. It ultimately led him to putting up less than 600 receiving yards.

As much as Carson Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald returning to the Cardinals is big for the team, they need another receiver to step up. Here’s to hoping Brown’s nagging hamstring issues don’t extend into the 2017 season.
