Adam Jones apparently taking Joe Mixon under his wing

Joe Mixon and Adam Jones are apparently hanging out.

Prior to being selected in the second round of April’s draft, former Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon was the subject of major off-field concerns. Mixon himself was recorded having struck a woman at a bar back in 2014. It was a major issue leading up to the draft, one that many figured would force Mixon himself to go undrafted completely.

But true to form, Cincinnati took a chance on Mixon in the second round. It was only one of less than a handful of teams who had the talented running back as a draftable commodity. Considering the issues Cincinnati has had with its own players in the past, this was seen as somewhat of a surprise.

Then again, the Bengals have been known to turn a blind eye to off-field issues. Just ask troubled veteran corner Adam Jones, who has had multiple run-ins with the law. When we say multiple, we actually mean it. This isn’t hyperbole.

Despite this, it looks like Jones himself is taking Mixon under his wing. The two were spotted by TMZ Sports at a concert earlier in the week.

“We’re told Jones invited Mixon as his guest — and they had a blast together and took pics with fans,” the gossip rag reported.

This promises to end well.

One can imagine the conversation here. Is Jones’ advice to his young teammate going to include learning from your experiences, only to make the same mistakes years later? It’s been a decade-long thing for the former first-round pick. One has to wonder how exactly he’s going to help Mixon move on from the domestic violence issue that has defined him leading up to his first season in the NFL.
