Warriors’ Mike Brown: Steve Kerr may be back for the Finals

Steve Kerr Golden State Warriors Game 2 2017 NBA Finals

A day after Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers didn’t sound too optimistic about the return of head coach Steve Kerr, acting head coach Mike Brown seems to be a bit more confident.

In talking about a wide array of stories leading up to the start of the 2017 NBA Finals against his former Cleveland Cavaliers team, Brown seemed to suggest that Kerr might very well be able to return for the series.

“First of all, Steve (Kerr) may be back,” Brown, via ESPN’s The Undefeated. “We all want him to be back. So, I’m just taking this thing one day at a time. He’s been great. (General manager) Bob Myers has been great. The guys (players) have been great.”

Brown has been the Warriors’ acting head coach since Kerr had to leave the team following Game 2 of the first round against the Portland Trail Blazers. Kerr’s absence stems from complications due to back surgery he went through back in 2015. In his stead, Brown has led the Warriors to a perfect 10-0 record.

We’re not sure if Kerr will be able to return in time for the start of the Finals on Thursday. If he isn’t able to return, Brown will be in a position to lead his Warriors against a Cavaliers team he took to the NBA Finals earlier in LeBron James career. That’s surely an interesting story heading into the Finals itself.
