Terry Francona pokes fun at Kevin Cash with scoreboard prank

Terry Francona

Cleveland Indians manager Terry Francona and Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash are good friends. Like all good friends, they like to play pranks on each other.

Cash was not an especially good MLB player. A season ago when the Rays visited Cleveland, Francona had the Indians’ scoreboard remind everyone of that fact. On Monday, ahead of Tampa’s visit to Progressive Field, Francona upped the ante.

Well, that hardly seems like the sporting thing to do.

Presently, the prank war has been a one-sided one. Francona has taken jabs at Cash, but Tampa’s manager has yet to retaliate.

Francona senses that it’s only a matter of time before that changes.

“He hasn’t [pranked me],” Francona said, per Michael Clair and Jordan Bastian of MLB.com. “Believe me, he could. I think he knows it. I think fortunately in this situation, I’m sort of like the big brother of the two. Where I can kind of take advantage of it a little bit. I’m sure at some point he’ll get tired of it and do something. I don’t care. I don’t have any feelings. I don’t care.”

Will the next prank be another from Francona? Or will Cash finally get his “big brother” back. We can’t wait to find out.
