Spurs fans suing Zaza Pachulia, Warriors

Spurs fan lawsuit, Zaza Pachulia

Remember when someone earned millions from the courts because McDonalds hot coffee was actually hot? There’s frivolous lawsuits. It’s the American way.

But this is taking that whole thing to a new level.

According to a brief filed at the Bexar County Courthouse in Texas, some Spurs fans have decided it’s a good idea to sue the Golden State Warriors and center Zaza Pachulia.

No, really.

The suit claims that Pachulia’s “dirty” play on Kawhi Leonard in Game 1 had an impact off the court itself.

“All we are asking from the court is that this type of behavior, that can and does cause serious injury to our team and those who love it, not be allowed in San Antonio,” Alfonso Kennard Jr,” the lead attorney for the platinfifs claims,

Um. What?

By now it’s well known what happened during the Warriors’ Game 1 win over San Antonio in the conference finals on Sunday. With his Spurs up by more than 20 in the third quarter, Kawhi Leonard had to exit the game due to another ankle injury.

This time, it came when the MVP candidate landed on Pachulia’s foot, a play Gregg Popovich himself called out on Monday.

While the NBA decided not punish Pachulia for the seemingly dirty play, it has created a firestorm of epic proportions around the NBA world. And for his part, Leonard himself will miss Game 2 Tuesday night in Oakland.

No matter where you stand on this, the idea of fans suing the Warriors and Pachulia is absolutely absurd. It’s just another example of someone trying to take advantage of a situation for monetary and symbolic gains.

America in 2017, indeed.
