Report: Victor Cruz set to visit with Jaguars later this month

Former New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz has not received any interest on the free-agent market after the team cut him loose earlier this offseason.

There’s a very good reason for this. Cruz, 30, has played a total of 21 games in the NFL since the end of the 2013 season while dealing with multiple injuries.

It started back in 2014 when the former Pro Bowler suffered a serious leg injury that forced him from action for more than an entire calendar year. Since then, Cruz himself has been viewed as injury plagued while watching his once awe-inspiring explosion dwindle away.

It’s gotten to the point that Cruz himself has campaigned for teams to give him a shot. Those teams included the Jacksonville Jaguars where his former head coach Tom Coughlin is running things in the front office.

It now looks like Cruz has gotten his wish. The veteran receiver will visit with the Jaguars later in May.

It’s not yet known just how interested Jacksonville is in bringing Cruz into the mix. The team has Allen Robinson and Marqise Lee leading the way at receiver with former 1,000-yard pass catcher Allen Hurns also in the mix.

Cruz put up just 39 receptions for 586 yards and one touchdown last season for the Giants.
