Billups, who currently serves as an NBA analyst for ESPN, last played in 2014 with the Detroit Pistons — the team he’s most remembered for playing with. As a member of Detroit’s last championship-winning squad, Billups earned MVP honors in the 2004 NBA Finals.
The Hawks recently moved on from former GM Wes Wilcox, who resigned after they failed to advance past the first round of the playoffs, losing to the Washington Wizards in six games.
