Report: Cardinals sign QB Blaine Gabbert

Free agent quarterback Blaine Gabbert met with the Arizona Cardinals earlier in the month. It now looks like the two parties have reached an agreement on a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Gabbert makes for a serviceable upgrade at backup to quarterback Carson Palmer. The team currently houses Drew Stanton and second-year player Zac Dysert on the roster.

Gabbert, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars from back in 2011. He recently played three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and started in a total of 13 games.
