Following up on something he’s discussed in the past, LeBron James made his intentions about owning an NBA team at some point crystal clear in an interview with Ken Berger of The Athletic.

“I will own a team someday,” James said, via Berger. “That’s my next thing.”

“Why do I want to own team? I think it’ll be cool. I’ll stay part of the game and still be able to put people in positions of power. I’ve always loved that, putting people in a position of power to feel like they can make a change and make things happen.”

James has previously expressed his desire to own a team, and he’s even looking towards an even bigger future as the owner of a media empire.

He’s already working toward that second goal as an executive producer for the hit TV show The Wall and is in business with Warner Bros. to produce movies and other television shows.

Following in the footsteps of Michael Jordan, who is an owner of the Charlotte Hornets, it seems like just a matter of time before James has his own NBA team.

In the meantime, he’ll have to content himself with seeking his fourth NBA title and second in as many years when the Cleveland Cavaliers take on the Golden State Warriors for all the marbles in the 2017 NBA Finals.
