The Toronto Raptors may end up losing one of their two All-Stars when free agency gets going this upcoming summer. As has been rumored since Toronto was swept out of the NBA Playoffs by the Cleveland Cavaliers last weekend, point guard Kyle Lowry has officially opted out of his contract.

Considering Lowry was set to make $18 million next season, this shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Despite struggling once again in the playoffs for the Raptors, the veteran guard will likely demand a max contract of $30-plus million on the open market.
Though, it’s not etched in stone that Lowry will indeed return to the Raptors. He’s been bandied about as a possibility for the Philadelphia 76ers, which makes sense considering Lowry himself is a Philly native and attended school at Villanova.
Lowry, 31, averaged 22.4 points, 4.8 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game this past regular season. Needless to say, he will be a hot commodity on the free-agent market.
