Isaiah Thomas indicates rest, not surgery is the No. 1 option

Isaiah Thomas injury

While Boston Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas missed the final three games of his team’s Eastern Conference Finals loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, surgery is not in the plans. At least, not right now.

Jay King of Masslive.com quoted Thomas who said that who said that while surgery may be needed eventually, the current plan is to rest.

This goes in line with an earlier report (which you can read here), saying that the doctors wanted to wait until the swelling went down to do anything.

The injury ended what was an incredible season for the Celtics’ star. Led by a career-high in field goal percentage (46.3), free throw percentage (90.9), and three-point percentage (37.9), Thomas had by far his best scoring season, averaging 28.9 points per game and becoming a real MVP candidate.

He’s also entering the final year of his contract with the Boston. So, the success of the off-season recovery (surgery or otherwise) is even more important than normal.
