Free agent NFL TE asks for prayers as he battles cancer

In December, shortly after he was released by the Baltimore Ravens, it was revealed that tight end Mitchell Henry had cancer. On Friday, he took to Twitter asking for support in the form of prayers.

Shortly after his diagnosis, a YouCaring page was set up. The Green Bay Packers, another one of his former teams, contributed to the cause, which actually raised more than twice its intended goal.

Henry signed with the Packers as an undrafted tight end in 2015. He was cut before the season and signed with the Denver Broncos, where he played in the only two regular season games of his NFL career during the 2015 season.

Shortly thereafter, he was cut by the Broncos, returned to Green Bay, and remained on their practice squad through the end of 2015. He was on Baltimore’s practice squad in 2016, until getting cut in November.
