The defending World Series champion Chicago Cubs are in need of a wake-up call after sleeping through the first month-plus of the MLB season.

At 18-17, Chicago finds itself in fourth place in the NL Central. Not exactly where the team had envisioned itself heading into the year.

In a potential attempt to give themselves a shot in the arm, the Cubs have promoted top prospect Ian Happ, who will make his Major League debut and bat second Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals.

A first-round pick of the Cubs back in 2015, Happ was absolutely raking it in Triple-A Iowa before being called up. The 23-year-old outfielder was hitting .298 with nine homers and 25 RBI in just 26 games.

According to MLB.com, Happ entered this season as the Cubs’ second-best prospect.
