Kevin Olsen was formally indicted on rape charges by a grand jury in Charlotte, N.C. on Monday stemming from an incident in an off-campus apartment in February.

As reported by wsoctv.com, “The grand jury handed up indictments on three counts of second-degree rape, two counts of assault on a female and one count of second-degree sexual offense.”

The 23-year-old woman who was allegedly assaulted by Olsen was treated at a local hospital in February for cuts and bruises. She filed a protective order against Olsen, whom she had previously been in a relationship with, about a week after the alleged incident.

“[Olsen] went to sleep and I snuck out of his house and went to the hospital,” the woman wrote in the protective order (h/t WBTV). “Throughout our relationship, [Olsen] was verbally abusive, he would call me names like [expletive] and [expletive].” She also called Olsen a “controlling and jealous” person.

Olsen has been suspended by Charlotte Athletics since he was initially arrested. He played in six games for the 49ers last season after transferring from Riverside City College in California after the 2015 season. He is the younger brother of Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen.
