The Cleveland Browns took a chance on former Florida defensive tackle Caleb Brantley in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft back in April.
Originally considered a potential second-round pick, Brantley saw his stock drop a whole heck of a lot following an incident in which he allegedly knocked a woman unconscious. Charges were ultimately filed against Brantley, at which point it seemed he would end up being an undrafted free agent.
Flush with a ton of picks, Cleveland figured it made sense to roll the dice on Brantley. As of right now, it looks like that might pay off.
Charges against the former Gator standout have been dropped.

According to the report, the state’s attorney office in Florida recently concluded its investigation into the matter, ultimately deciding their was not enough evidence to charge Brantley.
“No reliable evidence upon which an arrest or prosecution would be warranted or legally justified,” the state’s attorney office said Wednesday.
The alleged victim had apparently been drinking heavily the night of the incident, and according to the state’s attorney office, failed to initially cooperate with investigators.
Unfortunately, this entire situation cost Brantley a ton of money. If the information provided Wednesday had come out prior to the draft, we’re prettty sure he would have been selected higher than the sixth round.
