Celtics celebrated Game 3 win by Facetiming with Isaiah Thomas

Isaiah Thomas

While injured Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas couldn’t be in Cleveland on Sunday, he was with his team following its thrilling Game 3 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

“After Avery Bradley’s 3-pointer with 0.1 seconds left rattled home to lift Boston to a 111-108 triumph, Thomas texted all of his teammates with words of praise and support,” Chris Forsberg of ESPN wrote. “Gerald Green, one of Thomas’ closest friends on the team, then Facetimed Thomas and the locker room roared when an excited Thomas appeared on the screen.”

Boston still has a long way to go before its back in the series. The Celtics still trail 2-1, and while they won without Thomas in Game 3, winning three of the next four without him will be a monumental task. But regardless of what happens in the remainder of the series, Game 3’s comeback will go down as one of the more memorable moments of a postseason that’s been bland.

Thomas, who might need hip surgery, was thrilled that he got to share the moment with his teammates. The feeling was mutual.

“He was ecstatic. I told him I channeled my inner IT and he kind of laughed a little bit,” Marcus Smart said, per Forsberg. “It felt good. It felt good to see him smile. He’s been down with everything he’s been going through, and then for him not to be here, I know that hurts him even more. So to see him happy and smiling, it was a good feeling for us.”

We can just imagine what the Facetime will be like on Tuesday if Boston manages to even the series in Cleveland.
