WATCH: Evan Longoria launches first HR of 2017 MLB season

Evan Longoria, Rays

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria didn’t waste any time making an impact on the new MLB season.

During his first at-bat of the 2017 campaign, the right-handed slugger took advantage of the short left-field porch at Tropicana Field and took Masahiro Tanaka deep for the first home run of the season.

This three-run shot put the Rays up by four runs over the New York Yankees — a lead that was stretched to five runs shortly afterwards. It also foreshadowed what should be a highly competitive AL East this season. We can’t wait to see what happens next.
