Warriors, Cavaliers dominate NBA jersey sales heading into the playoffs

Stephen Curry LeBron James NBA FInals

There’s a decent chance that the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers will face off in the NBA Finals for a third consecutive year.

While Cleveland has struggled to a 10-13 mark since the start of March, LeBron James and Co. still have to be considered favorites back east. Meanwhile, Golden State boasts a league-best 66-15 mark heading into its final game Wednesday and has won 14 of its past 15 games.

So it really shouldn’t be a surprise that these two teams are dominating NBA jersey sales heading into the playoffs.

According to a tally from the NBA Store, Stephen Curry and LeBron James hold the top two spots respectively. Kevin Durant comes in third with his former teammate Russell Westbrook selling the fourth-most jerseys and Kyrie Irving of the Cavaliers rounding out the top five.

Needless to say, Golden State and Cleveland also dominate team-wide jersey sales.

The more interesting dynamic here is that two youngsters, Kristaps Porziņģis and Giannis Antetokounmpo, have found their way into the top 10. That bodes well for a young crop of NBA stars looking to take some of the limelight away from the obvious names.

As to where Porziņģis and the New York Knicks remain bottom feeders back east, the Greek Freak and his Milwaukee Bucks will be playing postseason basketball this upcoming weekend. Depending on how they perform, that could elevate Antetokounmpo’s status among the most-popular young players in the Association.
