Report: Rob Gronkowski had Patriots’ blessing for WrestleMania 33 cameo

Rob Gronkowski

Rob Gronkowski certainly looked healthy during his tremendous WrestleMania 33 cameo Sunday (watch here) just months removed from back surgery.

This likely had a lot to do with the New England Patriots giving Gronk their blessing to show off his pro wrestling skills in the WWE’s main annual showcase.

Before hitting the stage in Orlando, Fla., the Patriots tight end made it clear he’s “ready to roll” for offseason workouts.

A healthy Gronk means big things are afoot for New England’s offense. This is a unit that already upgraded its receiving corps this offseason by adding receiver Brandin Cooks in a trade with the New Orleans Saints and Dwayne Allen in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts.

Given these additions, the Pats will probably be just fine even if Gronkowski isn’t on the field. He has missed significant time in two of the last four years due to injury, and the Patriots have won two Super Bowls during that stretch — one with him and one without him in the lineup.

But if he is healthy and plays a full season, then it’s hard to imagine Tom Brady and Co. hitting many speed bumps along the way in 2017. Especially if Adrian Peterson — the former Minnesota Vikings free agent who is visiting the team on Monday — is brought on board.
