Report: Jets making calls trying to trade Sheldon Richardson

Sheldon Richardson

If seems that we might have finally found just how high other teams value New York Jets defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson. After all was quiet on that front during the first round Thursday night, it looks like the Jets are working the phones in an attempt to move their former first-round pick.

Considering Richardson has long been bandied about as trade bait, this really isn’t that big of a surprise. Though, by waiting until Day 2 to make these calls, the Jets have admitted that he’s not worth more than a second or third-round pick.

With a weak draft class along the interior of the defensive line, it would not be a surprise to see a contending team make a move for Richardson. The 26-year-old former first-round pick has performed at a Pro Bowl level throughout his career. And while he’s coming off a down 2016 campaign, Richardson still boasts considerable upside.

It would not be a shock to see a team like the Oakland Raiders or Dallas Cowboys come calling if the board doesn’t play out to their liking Friday evening. If so, the Jets will certainly be on the other end willing to listen.
