Fresh off pitching for Canada in the World Baseball Classic, 41-year-old former Cy Young winner Eric Gagne is once again looking to take his talents to the states.

It now looks like the Dodgers are showing interest in signing Gagne to a minor league contract.

This really shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise. Gagne performed much better than expected during the World Baseball Classic and has displayed better-than-average stuff.

The interesting dynamic here is that Gagne that not pitched in the Majors since 2008. That season saw him put up a disastrous 5.44 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 50 appearances for the Milwaukee Brewers.

A three-time All-Star, Gagne’s best season came back in 2003 when he posted a 1.20 ERA and 0.69 WHIP with 55 saves en route to earning the NL Cy Young with the Dodgers. He spent eight of his 10 MLB season in Los Angeles.
