Report: 49ers are not buying the Mitch Trubisky to Browns talk

Browns, NFL Draft rumors, Mitch Trubisky

As the 2017 NFL Draft nears, most of the talk has surrounded the Cleveland Browns shocking the football world and going with North Carolina quarterback Mitch Trubisky No. 1 overall.

That would seem to go against the general consensus that has former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett as the top player in the entire draft.

At this point, it is hard to conclude whether reports coming out this late in the process are smoke screens or tell us more about the general thinking of a team.

What we do know here is that the San Francisco 49ers, picking No. 2 overall, are not buying the Trubisky to Cleveland talk for one second.

That’s about as strong of a response as we could get on draft day itself.

If for some reason Cleveland were to take Trubisky No. 1, the 49ers would be in an tremendous position to either take the generational talent that is Myles Garrett or move down for a bounty of picks. If the Browns’ selection is indeed Garrett, that muddies up the 49ers’ decision-making process.

There is, however, a real scenario in play here that suggests Cleveland can take Garrett with the first pick while moving all the way back up to the second selection for Trubisky.

Stay tuned, this promises to be a blast.
