Report: 3-5 teams interested in Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson

After a few weeks of nothing going on, NFL free agent running back Adrian Peterson is apparently a hot item all of a sudden. The former Minnesota Vikings star is visiting the New England Patriots on Monday, and he reportedly has a few other suitors as well.

Just as interesting as the report that Peterson has other suitors is the notion he hasn’t set a price. On one hand, that’s perfectly understandable. He’s reportedly said a big deal is playing with a top quarterback, and at this point in his career perhaps winning a title is the most important thing to him, rather than money. However, over the course of his career money has meant an awful lot, so we’re slightly skeptical he hasn’t set a price.

We already know the Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren’t one of these teams (more on that here). It’s going to be interesting to see if Peterson ends up going on a mini-circuit of team visits after he and the Pats discuss their potential interest in uniting.

If we’re being honest, it isn’t particularly Bill Belichick-esque to bring in a 32-year-old running back who’s missed two of the past three seasons for the most part. But we also know the Patriots don’t bring people in for visits if they don’t have any interest in signing them.

So which other teams might be interested in Peterson’s services? It’s going to be fascinating to see where this train ends up traveling in the days and weeks to come.
