For most Edmonton Oilers fans, Wednesday’s 3-2 overtime loss in the Stanley Cup Playoffs opener against the San Jose Sharks was a letdown. But for David and Tanya Idzan, the loss had a silver lining.
The couple participated in a 50/50 raffle and won a whopping $254,640, which translates to $336,995 Canadian.

The two are season ticket holders. As such, they are no strangers to the 50/50 raffle. This time, however, they bought more tickets than normal.
“We buy $40 worth of raffles every game,” David Idzan told ESPN, per Darren Rovell. “We bought $80 last night.”
We’d say that’s a pretty good return on the investment. Especially since, as Rovell noted
The Idzan’s will also see every penny of their raffle winnings. Rovell also noted that “Per Canadian law, 50/50 prize winnings are not taxed.”
We’d say that’s a pretty solid return on their investment.
