NBA fines Rockets G Patrick Beverley $25,000 for altercation with fan

Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley has played well for his team in its first-round playoff matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Though, the always passionate Beverley found himself in the news for all the wrong reasons during Friday’s Game 3 outing in Oklahoma City.

The guard got into an altercation with Jay Scaramucci, the son of Thunder minority owner Stuart Scaramucci. It took place in the first half when Beverley fell to the floor, only to take exception to landing on the fan’s feet.

Beverley and Scaramucci would ultimately get into a heated exchange following the game, leading to Rockets forward Sam Dekker having to pull the guard away from the younger Scaramucci.

Here’s a video of the altercation.

Now, as the Rockets and Thunder prepare for Game 4 on Sunday, Beverley himself has been fined $25,000 by the NBA.

“The NBA has fined Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley $25,000 over his interaction with a fan during Game 3 of the Western Conference playoffs Friday night, NBA executive vice president of basketball operations Kiki VanDeWeghe announced Sunday,” ESPN reported.

This promises to add more intrigue in Oklahoma City on Sunday afternoon as the Thunder look to tie the series up at two. Beverley himself has not been immune to the scorn of fans on the road. And that’s unlikely to change here. He’s just $25,000 lighter in the pocket book.
