There was nothing normal about the Chicago Cubs winning the 2016 World Series, breaking a 108-year drought. So, it shouldn’t be surprising that the plan to raise the team’s championship banner in the home opener is not going off without a hitch.

The ever frustrating and unpredictable Chicago weather is getting in the way of the celebration, pushing it back.

Fortunately, thanks to a recent renovations, fans in attendance are getting to enjoy 2016 highlights on the videoboard in the outfield. Their opponents, the Los Angeles Dodgers, are probably not remembering things so fondly.

Despite the poor weather, the team remains optimistic that the ceremony and game will take place on Monday.

Opening week at Wrigley Field will be a busy one for the Cubs. Following the raising of the flag, the team will hand out championship rings filled with 108 diamonds prior to Wednesday’s game.
