There’s a chance that New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will be calling a new city home by the time the first round of the NFL Draft draws to an end on Thursday night.

It’s not likely, but we really have to expect the unexpected when it comes to New England. Here’s a team that has made multiple trades over the past two months and has lost out on its picks in both the first and second rounds. Surely, New England will be looking to make some sort of splash during the draft.

Long bandied about as a potential trade option, Garoppolo doesn’t seem to be sweating it out as the draft itself nears.

“No nerves,” Garoppolo said before the Boston Celtics’ playoff game on Wednesday, via Comcast SportsNet New England. “I’m just trying to enjoy the game with the guys tonight. It’s a special thing coming out here.”

For his part, there’s really no reason for Garoppolo to be nervous. The former second-round pick will either be Tom Brady’s primary backup for the defending champs or the new face of the franchise for another team.

Slated to become a free agent following the 2017 season, Garoppolo is also nearing a relatively big payday for a quarterback that’s started a grand total of two games in three NFL seasons.

Unless someone blows the socks off the Pats with a trade offer, the expectation here is that Garoppolo will remain in New England. If so, that’s likely the reason the backup isn’t sweating his current situation.
