Former Denver Broncos first-round pick Shane Ray will be tasked with taking on a larger role this upcoming season following the retirement of DeMarcus Ware. A two-year pro out of Missouri, Ray put up a stellar eight sacks in a part-time role for the Broncos as a sophomore last season.

There seems to be a growing sense of confidence in his ability to make up for the loss of Ware. That was magnified by recent comments All Pro pass rusher Von Miller made about his young teammate (more on that here).

It now looks like Ray himself is taking exception to those who don’t believe he has what it takes to become a more important part of the Broncos’ defense moving forward. The young pass rusher took to social media on Saturday morning to direct some rather interesting comments to “keyboard warriors.”

It might be that criticism is what helps make Ray tick. Either way, it’s interesting that he would turn to this medium. There hasn’t been a lot of people around the football world speak out against Ray as a potential future Pro Bowler. Either way, Ray is hellbent on letting the masses know he’s prepared to take on an expanded role for the Broncos in 2017.
