Former President Barack Obama will attend the funeral of Pittsburgh Steelers chairman and Ambassador Dan Rooney on Tuesday. He will not make any remarks, according to his spokesman, though he put out a statement upon Rooney’s death (more on that here).

President Obama has well-known connections to Rooney, who was a donor to his campaign and high-profile supporter. Upon winning the 2008 election, Obama appointed Rooney ambassador to Ireland. Every July 4 in Ireland, Rooney held a football game on the front lawn of his ambassador’s residence, per Peter King’s MMQB.
Rooney passed away last Wednesday at the age of 84.
