Despite being a Division I school since the tournament’s inception in 1939, the Northwestern had never qualified. So, the Wildcats had been waiting 80 years for this celebration. They weren’t going to miss the chance.
Next up for Northwestern is a Saturday date against Gonzaga, the Western Region’s No. 1 seed.
